| cows are kept in rooms adjacent to sleeping quarters
domestic animals play a huge role in their lives and thus the attachment is more than just “economic” 

| doors for interior rooms ( usually at a height of 5’-6” )
results in people “bowing their heads to allow head clearance 
according to locals, one must respect when entering one’s home 

| 2 entries for most homes
|to ensure privacy | strangers are greeted at the “main entrance” |  
secondary entry mostly used by women or for the entry and exit of domestic animals 

| all functions are arranged around a central courtyard
creates strong bonds between families through continuous interactions

| the reasons are socio-economic | 
belief that “ পাকা ঘর ” is a status symbol 
the up-keep of mud houses require tedious “nuree” or “lepa” 
( covering the whole house with mud layers of mud every 15 days )

| in the age of sustainibility | 
yet in the age where “sustainabilty” is a major concern 
these vernacular houses could very well be developed
